Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience (¥4.5M – ¥6.8M annually) + Overtime Allowance + Field Service Allowances + Commuting Coverage
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Hydraulics Technician to join our field operations team in Tokyo. In this off-site, technical role, you will travel directly to client job sites, industrial facilities, construction locations, and logistics centers across the Kanto region to perform on-site troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and critical repairs on high-pressure fluid power systems.
You will play a vital role in preventing system downtime, diagnosing complex hydraulic failures, and maintaining the operational reliability of machinery operating in demanding environments.
Key Responsibilities
Field Testing, Diagnosis & Repair
- Travel to client locations to inspect, test, and troubleshoot hydraulic circuits, pumps, motors, control valves, cylinders, and hydro-pneumatic systems.
- Perform on-site component replacements, valve recalibrations, seal repairs, fluid flushing, and high-pressure hose crimping/assembly.
- Utilize diagnostic tools (pressure gauges, flow meters, diagnostic software) to identify pressure drops, fluid contamination, and system inefficiencies.
Site Safety & Service Reporting
- Adhere strictly to Japanese Industrial Safety and Health Act (Anzen Eisei Hō) standards, lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols, and site-specific safety regulations.
- Prepare clear digital service reports (Sagyō Hōkokusho), documenting system readings, replaced parts, work hours, and maintenance recommendations.
- Coordinate with the central office and technical dispatch team regarding spare parts ordering, inventory levels, and follow-up site visits.
Client Relations & Equipment Upkeep
- Communicate directly with site supervisors and plant engineers regarding fault diagnoses, repair timelines, and preventative maintenance protocols.
- Maintain service vehicle inventory, hydraulic testing equipment, fluid sampling tools, and safety gear in top working condition.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 3+ years of practical experience repairing and maintaining hydraulic or fluid power systems (construction machinery, industrial presses, material handling equipment, or marine systems).
- Certifications (Japan):
- Valid Japanese Driver’s License (Ordinary or Medium-duty license for mobile service trucks).
- Hydraulic System Maintenance Technician certification (Yuatsu Kōki Seibishi) or Automobile/Machinery Maintenance License is strongly preferred.
- Slinging (Tamagake) or Crane operator licenses are advantageous.
- Language Proficiency:
- Japanese: Conversational to Business level (essential for communicating with Japanese site engineers, understanding technical schematics, and writing work logs).
- English: Basic/Technical level (ability to read international hydraulic schematics and manufacturer service manuals).
- Physical Requirements: Strong physical dexterity, ability to work comfortably in outdoor or industrial site conditions, and adaptability to flexible field schedules.
Technical Competencies
- Expertise in reading and interpreting complex hydraulic schematics and circuit diagrams.
- Sound knowledge of fluid mechanics, oil contamination analysis, and system pressure troubleshooting.
- Experience servicing systems from major manufacturers (e.g., Parker, Rexroth, Kawasaki, Yuken, Eaton).
Benefits & Work Environment
- Full social insurance coverage (Shakai Hoken).
- Dedicated company service vehicle, specialized hydraulic tools, uniforms, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided.
- Field allowance (Genba Teate), overtime pay (Zangyō Teate), and travel expense coverage.
- Paid annual leave (Yukyu) and ongoing technical skill advancement programs.
